New Rateable Values
Non-domestic properties throughout England and Wales have been reassessed for business rates and draft rateable values were issued by the Valuation Office in the autumn of 2004.
The new rateable values take effect from 1 April 2005. Many ratepayers will see a significant increase in their rateable value and rates liability.
Care should be taken to appoint properly qualified rating advisers. In particular beware pressure selling techniques from some sources which promise huge savings, even before visiting your property.
