Cary Estate

Waycotts manage the Cary family’s estate within the English Riviera. The Cary family have been a part of Torquay's history for centuries. Originally owning Cockington Court from 1375 before acquiring Torre Abbey in 1662.

The present-day Estate was formed following the purchase of the Torre Abbey Estate in 1662 following the reformation of the monarchy at the end of the English Civil War.

The Estates lands were extensively developed from mid-19th to early 20th Century and has resulted in the Estate having retained significant property interests including a substantial rental portfolio as well as the benefits of rent charges and restrictive covenants relating to the Torre Abbey Estate.

Waycotts are retained by the current Trustees of the Estate (all Cary family members) as management surveyors and welcome all enquiries regarding estate matters and are happy to discuss the release of covenants for any development proposals as well as the redemption of Rent Charges that affect your property.

Any commercial and or residential property that the Estate has available for sale or to let will be advertised within our agency section. Please note that the Estate are always keen to consider and acquire other Investments so if you are looking to sell it maybe worth giving us a call!
